Picelle ranked No. 1
in NASA GTS-2 racing

Local amateur race car driver Carl Picelle, driving the Allen Racing Products (Allen Aircraft Inc.) Porsche 944, has jumped to the top position of the NASA (National Auto Sport Association) Ohio/Indiana Regions 2005 German Touring and Sportscar Challenge (GTS).

Picelle, competing in GTS-2 class, recently had a class win and second-place finish at two sprint races held at Gingerman Raceway in South Haven, Mich. That, combined with double wins earlier at Beaver Run Motorsports Park in Pennsylvania and podium finishes in three other races this season, puts Picelle at the top of the standings with nine races remaining in the season.

Picelle will compete at Waterford Hills Raceway in Michigan in August, again at Beaver Run on Labor Day weekend and wraps up the Championship season with a four-race weekend at Putnam Park Raceway in Indiana.

Picelles CARVAL Motorsports racing team also plans on competing at the historic Watkins Glen International Raceway in New York in a special appearance contesting the 944 Cup in October.

Further local support of this racing effort comes from Flynns Tire and Service Centers, Auto Glass Systems, Campus Camera and Imaging, Picelles own Franklin Square Deli, and Advanced Displays Systems, all of Kent; Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company; Action Auto Body of Streetsboro; Steinels Autoworks, Twinsburg; and primary sponsor, Allen Aircraft, representing their growing racing division, Allen Racing Products, of Ravenna.

Additionally, Carl and fianc Valarie Mazzola (Team Manager) will be married in a very special home ceremony on Saturday.
